Consumer Relations Committee
The Consumer Relations Committee is charged with identifying, exploring and managing partnerships with key consumer advocacy organizations including the current CPNP relationship with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Consumer Relations provides services and identifies and takes action on issues and activities of common interest. Current ongoing activities include authoring medication fact sheets, Ask the Psychiatric Pharmacist columns and organizing the annual CPNP Walks for NAMI fundraiser.

Charges to the Consumer Relations Committee

By September 30, 2011, develop a list of products and services that CPNP could provide to consumer organizations targeted by CPNP given the resources available.
Metric: Development of a list for presentation to the Board with consideration of cost and resource ramifications. -
By September 30, 2011, arrange and conduct meetings with preferred organizations to discuss areas of common goals and possible partnership projects.
Metric: Scheduling and documentation of meetings as well as recommendations for suggested projects and partnerships. Presentation to the Board. - Continue with current NAMI services including:
- NAMI Walk at the CPNP Annual Meeting
- New and revised medication fact sheet according to current quarterly schedule
- New “Ask the Psychiatric Pharmacist sheet” on an every other month schedule
- Update existing Ask the Pharmacist sheets with new information (review annually by September 30, 2011)
- Submission and delivery (if selected) of a presentation at the NAMI Annual Meeting.

Booth representation at the NAMI Annual Meeting.
Metrics: Timely updates and submission to NAMI. Increase in walk donations by 10%.

Encourage CPNP members to submit programs to state and local NAMI affiliate meetings and record such participation in CPNP records and on the CPNP website and/or in member and promotional media.
Metric: The scheduling and production of 2 Weekly Update messages demonstrating how and encouraging members to participate in NAMI at the local or state level. The scheduling and production of a minimum of 1 e-news article featuring a member providing a service or program to a local or state NAMI annually. -
By May 31, 2011, make all arrangements for participation in the NAMI national meeting including staffing a CPNP booth and submitting and implementing educational programming if programming is selected by NAMI. The deadline for submitting programming is November/December of each year.
Metric: Securing and staffing of a booth at the NAMI meeting via CPNP staff. Contribution of “staff” to the Wellness Center booths. Administration and compilation of survey to NAMI AM attendees. Delivery of educational program if accepted by NAMI and achievement of positive evaluation ratings. -
Conduct consumer survey at NAMI Annual Meeting and present findings to the CPNP membership.
Metric: Annually develop and submit a consumer related abstract and poster for the CPNP Annual Meeting by January 2012.
Charges to All Committees
- By June 30, 2011, as appropriate to each committee, appoint a liaison to the quarterly focus group to participate both as a CPNP member and as a representative of the committee’s interests.
- By June 30, 2011, submit committee recommendations regarding programming, workshops and roundtables to Program Committee. Note that all suggestions will be considered but not all can be accepted.
- Submit committee recommendations regarding possible member and non-member products and services to the Publications and Online Services Committee. Note that all suggestions will be considered but not all can be completed.
- Send a liaison to the quarterly focus group to participate both as a CPNP member and as a representative of the committee interests.
- Support The Mental Health Clinician by submitting timely content for publication as necessary, recommending relevant authors and sources as possible, and providing feedback as requested.
- As appropriate to committee efforts and planned scope of work, develop survey questions to include in the CPNP fall member needs assessment.

As a committee and as individual members, support CPNP by:
- Nominating individuals for leadership positions
- Nominating individuals for awards
- Contributing to and expanding the Shared Resources section of the website.
- Participating in membership activities such as membership polls, the CPNP list, surveys, poster session, poster awards, etc.
