Recertification Committee

The Recertification Committee is responsible for developing and implementing standards for CPNP’s approved BCPP recertification programming via the BCPP Recertification Live and Literature Analysis programming. Their responsibilities include speaker selection and communication, objectives design, curriculum review, test question review to ensure validity and reliability, and programming implementation and evaluation.

Charges to the Recertification Committee

  1. Increase cross-committee communication and collaboration to assure promotion of the BCPP certification process; collaborate with Review Course Editorial Board.
    Metric: A minimum of 1 meeting with Review Course Board and BPS representatives to establish ideas and action plans. Carry-through on minimum of 1 item on action plan.
  2. By June 15, 2011, review and finalize the 7-year recertification plan to identify sessions/topics that will be covered each year. As part of this process, consider the Review Course content and required BCPP domain coverage.
    Metric: Updated 7-year schedule and communication with other programming committees to avoid duplication in content.
  3. By June 15, 2011, submit a proposal to the CPNP Board regarding any recommended administrative changes to increase operational efficiency of recertification planning and implementation. This would include plan to transition to an appointed Recertification Editorial Board for the 2013 programming.
    Metric: Submission of proposal to the Board.
  4. By June 15, 2011, if appropriate, submit any ideas to the Board for the expansion and development of new products and services related to the use of recertification materials produced from the April 2010 Annual Meeting.
    Metric: Submission of report/proposal to Board as appropriate.
  5. By December 1, 2011, if needed, consider any proposals for revisions that should be made to BPS in collaboration with the Review Course Editorial Board for 2011 implementation.
    Metric: Documentation of discussion in the committee minutes and development of recommendation proposal as needed for consideration of Board.
  6. By August 30,2011, submit a proposal to the Board regarding 2011 recertification programming content and suggested speakers. Work with the Review Course Board and Program Committee to ensure that mutually agreeable decisions are made regarding content and possible duplication, live/non-live programming, testing procedures and site issues.
    Metrics: Documentation of at least 1 cross-committee meeting to discuss programming and possible duplication and economies of scale, timely proposal accepted by the Board.
  7. Maintain quality of BCPP recertification products and processes by establishing quality assessment and assurance measures regarding integrity of the exam process. Collaborate with Review Course Committee, CPNP staff, and BCPP Program Director with plan in place by January 2012.
    Metrics: Monitor and report trends from annual evaluations and BPS audit reports and detail response to any needed changes.
  8. Develop a proposal for programming for the 2011 ASHP joint programming by February 1, 2011 when the proposal is due to ASHP. Participate, if selected, in planning the programming through the summer and fall of 2011 for implementation at the 2011 December ASHP Mid-Year meeting (New Orleans, LA December 4-8). Repurpose for presentation at the May 2012 CPNP Annual Meeting. Metric: Submission of timely and accepted ASHP proposal, scheduled calls with faculty and documentation of actions early in the process to ensure programming meets the needs of both events to the extent possible.
  9. In conjunction with BPS, advise and assist in marketing of the BCPP credentials.
    Metrics: Publishing of press releases related to the BCPP credentials and certified individuals, feature of BPS and BCPP related articles in CPNP’s weekly update and e-news, promotion of the BCPP Item-Writing Workshop (if scheduled by BPS) in the CPNP Annual Meeting brochure and web pages.

Charges to All Committees

  1. By June 30, 2011, as appropriate to each committee, appoint a liaison to the quarterly focus group to participate both as a CPNP member and as a representative of the committee’s interests.
  2. By June 30, 2011, submit committee recommendations regarding programming, workshops and roundtables to Program Committee. Note that all suggestions will be considered but not all can be accepted.
  3. Submit committee recommendations regarding possible member and non-member products and services to the Publications and Online Services Committee. Note that all suggestions will be considered but not all can be completed.
  4. Send a liaison to the quarterly focus group to participate both as a CPNP member and as a representative of the committee interests.
  5. Support The Mental Health Clinician by submitting timely content for publication as necessary, recommending relevant authors and sources as possible, and providing feedback as requested.
  6. As appropriate to committee efforts and planned scope of work, develop survey questions to include in the CPNP fall member needs assessment.
  7. As a committee and as individual members, support CPNP by:
    • Nominating individuals for leadership positions
    • Nominating individuals for awards
    • Contributing to and expanding the Shared Resources section of the website.
    • Participating in membership activities such as membership polls, the CPNP list, surveys, poster session, poster awards, etc.
