Research Committee
The Research Committee is charged with promoting the active participation of the CPNP membership in scholarly activity as well as facilitating and encouraging the integration of scientific advances into the treatment of psychiatric and neurologic illnesses.

Charges to the Research Committee

Develop a 2-hour track of interactive research programming for the 2012 Annual Meeting that is responsive to feedback received at the 2011 Annual Meeting.

By June 30, 2011, compile research programming proposals for concurrent programming at the 2012-2014 Annual Meetings. Programming must be ACPE and CME approvable content and format. Each proposal shall contain learning objectives and at least 3 alternate suggestions for speakers.
Metric: Number of complete proposals, goal of 3+. -
Work with Program Committee on the planning and peer review of any accepted research-oriented programming proposal.
Metric: Compare attendance at 2012 Annual Meeting research programming to the 2011 Annual Meeting research programming.

By May 2012, contribute 6 articles to The Mental Health Clinician (MHC) relevant to the monthly themes and focused on research or research into best practices.

Support the ongoing development of Shared Resources
Metric: The number of unique visits to Shared Resources each month.
Metric: The number of industry journal abstract ratings each month.
Metric: The number of distinct resources that were created or updated each month.
Metric: The number of distinct resources that were created or updated each month by Research Committee members.
Metric: The number of comments and ratings throughout Shared Resources each month. -
Implement year 5 of the 2008-2012 5-year research plan

Update the 5-year research plan.

During June, circulate a report evaluating the 2008-2012 5-year research plan for feedback to the Board of Directors, to committee leadership, and to the CPNP Foundation Board

During October, circulate a draft of the 2012-2016 5-year research plan for feedback to the Board of Directors, to committee leadership, and to the CPNP Foundation Board

Release the final version of the 2012-2016 5-year research plan in the January edition of The Mental Health Clinician.

Charges to All Committees
- By June 30, 2011, as appropriate to each committee, appoint a liaison to the quarterly focus group to participate both as a CPNP member and as a representative of the committee’s interests.
- By June 30, 2011, submit committee recommendations regarding programming, workshops and roundtables to Program Committee. Note that all suggestions will be considered but not all can be accepted.
- Submit committee recommendations regarding possible member and non-member products and services to the Publications and Online Services Committee. Note that all suggestions will be considered but not all can be completed.
- Send a liaison to the quarterly focus group to participate both as a CPNP member and as a representative of the committee interests.
- Support The Mental Health Clinician by submitting timely content for publication as necessary, recommending relevant authors and sources as possible, and providing feedback as requested.
- As appropriate to committee efforts and planned scope of work, develop survey questions to include in the CPNP fall member needs assessment.

As a committee and as individual members, support CPNP by:
- Nominating individuals for leadership positions
- Nominating individuals for awards
- Contributing to and expanding the Shared Resources section of the website.
- Participating in membership activities such as membership polls, the CPNP list, surveys, poster session, poster awards, etc.
