2006 Annual Meeting Schedule
Sunday, April 23, 2006: Pre-Meeting Workshop
Scheduled for Sunday, April 23, this half-day, behavioral and movement disorder rating scale workshop will improve attendees' ability to understand and administer these scales and use the acquired skills to better interpret and evaluate pertinent published literature. CPNP has partnered with Pharmastar, a global leader in rater qualification and training services in the area of central nervous system therapeutics to provide this workshop. Workshop leaders will utilize patient scenarios and interactive instructional techniques to enhance the attendees' knowledge of the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) as well as various movement disorder rating scales. A modest registration fee is required to attend this pre-meeting workshop. A light breakfast, lunch and break items are included.
Sunday, April 23, 2006: Evidence-Based Practice Programming
Eligible for Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacy Recertification Credit, these 5 hours of programming kick off the meeting by providing therapeutic, evidence-based content offering practical application for those in any setting. These sessions are of great value to all attendees. This programming is included within the full Annual Meeting and Sunday one-day registration options at no additional fee. Additional fees apply for those requiring recertification credit.
Monday, April 24, 2006: Keynote Address
Joyce Burland, Director of Education for NAMI, focuses attendees on the most important element of our profession--the consumers and family members dealing with mental illness. Dr. Burland will address the stages of mental illness and the needs of affected consumers and family members.
Tuesday, April 25, 2006: CATIE Trial-Implications for Clinical Practice
Get the latest information on the CATIE Trial. From one of the trial principals, Dr. Richard Keefe of Duke University Medical Center. Emphasis will be placed on primary efficacy measures and their clinicla meeting as well as the potential impact of the trial on national treatment guidelines. Investigator Dr. Roger Sommi will lead discussion regarding the role of psychiatric pharmacists in appropriate antipsychotic use.
Tuesday, April 25, 2006: Concurrent Programming
Eight hours of concurrent programming provide an array of sessions for attendees to choose from to best meet their individual needs. Delve more into personality disorders, substance abuse patient management or listen to up to 10 platform presentations presented by award finalists.
Tuesday, April 25, 2006: Awards Banquet
Join your colleagues in recognizing the contributions of outgoing CPNP President Charles Caley, PharmD, BCPP and welcoming incoming President Matthew Fuller, PharmD, BCPS, BCPP, FASHP as he is installed as the 9th president of CPNP. Experience the reflections of Judith J. Saklad Memorial Lecture Award recipient James Wilson, PharmD, instrumental in the formation of CPNP and one of the early pioneers in the field of psychiatric and neurologic pharmacy.
Wednesday, April 26, 2006: Neurology Programming
Capping off the Annual Meeting is an update on the management and treatment of Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Drs. Jack Chen and Fred Lublin provide practical information for immediate application in your practice setting.
