Life-Saving Keynote Address
Inside the Suicidal Mind: Life-Saving Insights and Critical Therapeutic Strategies
Monday, April 19, 2010-8:00-9:30 AM
Day 2 of the 2010 Annual Meeting will begin with a keynote address by Terry Wise, JD, author of the book "Waking Up: Climbing Through Darkness." Ms. Wise serves on the board of numerous organizations, including the American Association of Suicidology, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and Families for Depression Awareness. She is also a recipient of the National Mental Health Award for "distinguished achievement and work that had a major impact on the depression community."
The presentation will provide a unique approach to treating suicidal patients from the perspective of someone who survived her own near-fatal suicide attempt. Ms. Wise will draw upon her knowledge of empirically-based approaches, experience as a survivor, and work as an advocate to provide the audience with new tools to assist in aiding suicidal patients in practice. A book signing will be available following her presentation.
