Wednesday Keynote Address One
Treatment of Cognitive Impairment in Schizophrenia
Wednesday, April 21, 10:30-11:30 AM
Disability in multiple domains of everyday functioning is a hallmark feature of schizophrenia. While there was initial hope that atypical antipsychotic medications would produce broad improvements in functioning, the cognitive and functional benefit of these treatments appears to be limited to a subgroup of patients. In this session Philip Harvey, PhD, Professor of Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine, will discuss the multiple, dynamic efforts currently underway to develop adjunctive treatments for cognitive enhancement, with these treatments including both pharmacological and cognitive remediation strategies.
