On behalf of the Recertification and Program committees, I am happy to announce the 2011 CPNP Annual Meeting, A World of Possibilities. This meeting is designed to provide the attendee with a vast array of cutting-edge topics in psychiatry and neurology to help enhance the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders well into the future.
An interactive pre-meeting workshop, Optimizing Cardiovascular Health in Psychiatric Patients, will provide the participant with the skill set needed to manage this common comorbidity in the mental health population. After the pre-meeting workshop on Sunday morning recertification programming will cover topics on The Role of Antidepressants in Bipolar Disorder, Fibromyalgia Syndrome and Long-Acting Antipsychotic Injections.
Additional meeting highlights include a timely keynote address by Linda Strand on Seizing the MTM Opportunity which will highlight the unique role of the pharmacist in the era of healthcare reform. Other sessions which will be delivered by pharmacists in the field include Drug Transporters in Psychiatric Medications presented by C. Lindsay DeVane and Management of Childhood Aggression presented by M. Lynn Crismon.
Concurrent programming throughout the meeting will provide sessions on issues of the day, neurologic disorders and two research tracks, one featuring award candidate platform presentations and the second featuring a two-hour session on Incorporating Health Services Research into Practice. Additional recertification programming will be offered on Behavioral Disturbances in the Elderly. Due to their popularity last year, CPNP will once again feature Networking Roundtables and a Clinical Pearls session that will provide the audience with practical tips that can immediately be applied in everyday practice.
Ending the meeting will be a session presented by Cara Alfaro, PharmD, BCPP on Understanding the FDA Process including discussion of recent approvals and the data evaluated by the FDA and a closing keynote address delivered by Dr. Stephen Stahl on Glutamate: The Emerging Frontier in Psychopharmacology for Schizophrenia and Mood Disorders.
On behalf of the Board and your peers who serve on the Recertification and Program Committees, I invite you to attend what is sure to be a diverse and educational 2011 Annual Meeting. We hope to see you in Phoenix!
