Health care organizations and individual practices are left to construct a response that is in the best interest of delivering safe care to the patient, while effectively using available resources. The roundtable will discuss the experiences and strategies of participants and seek best practices in response to recent FDA safety alerts (e.g. citalopram and dose dependent QT prolongation; ECG monitoring with stimulant medications, fingolimod and risk of death).
Discussion Topics:
- How did you decide on an appropriate level of response to the alert-(dissemination of information, systematic reviews of at-risk patients, policy changes)
- Who was invited to the table to formulate your response? What committee structure has your institution utilized?
- Do you think it’s safe to “not respond”
