As reported in previous CPNP weekly updates, seven national pharmacy organizations collaborated on analysis and response to a document published by the American Medical Association (AMA Scope of Practice Data Series: Pharmacists) for its members. The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) now reports that the American Medical Association has responded favorably to these concerns expressed in April by APhA and six other pharmacy associations. AMA wants to sit down with APhA and several representatives from the pharmacy groups in June to discuss pharmacists’ activities in the medication therapy management and collaborative drug therapy management arenas.
