Preview: Pharmacogenomics in Clinical Practice

The March 2012 issue will be dedicated to Pharmacogenomics in Clinical Practice. It will highlight psychiatric pharmacists’ original research in the field of pharmacogenomics, describe what pharmacists need to know to incorporate this information into their practice, and provide key resources for future reference.

Vicki Ellingrod, BCPP, FCCP will highlight research from the Clinical Pharmacogenomics Laboratory, including assessment of folate pharmacogenomics in relation to metabolic syndrome from atypical antipsychotics. Also featured will be an interview with pharmacogenomics researcher Jeff Bishop, PharmD, BCPP. Dr. Bishop will be speaking at the 2012 CPNP Annual Meeting in Tampa, Florida along with David Mrazek, MD, whose research initiatives include genomic variability and psychiatric illnesses.
