CPNP Member Sheila Botts, PharmD, BCPP Receives NCDEU New Investigator Award

CPNP member and Past President Sheila Botts, PharmD, BCPP, has been selected as one of 17 new investigator award recipients at the 2009 New Clinical Drug Evaluation Unit (NCDEU) meeting to be held June 29-July 2 in Hollywood Florida. The NCDEU meeting, sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health and American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, offers a special program for new investigators in an effort to promote the education and training of junior investigators in psychopharmacology. Established investigators were asked to nominate individuals who may be interested in a research career in psychopharmacology for this special program.

CPNP Announces 2010 Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker

The College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) is pleased to announce that Terry Wise, JD, will lead off the 2010 CPNP Annual Meeting with a keynote address on Monday, April 19 in San Antonio, Texas. 

CPNP 2009 Annual Meeting

Jacksonville, Florida delivered sunny and warm days for the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacist’s 12th Annual Meeting held April 19-22. This four-day conference hosted 384 attendees and featured over 15 hours of cutting-edge scientific presentations, 7.5 hours of industry supported symposia and a record number 128 scientific poster presentations.

CPNP Announces Saklad Memorial Lecture Award and Research Award Recipients at the 2009 CPNP Annual Meeting

Saklad Memorial Lecture Award

CPNP was honored to present the Saklad Memorial Lecture Award at the April 2009 CPNP Annual Meeting for the twelfth time. The Saklad Memorial Lecture Award celebrates the life and work of the late Judith J. Saklad. Dr. Saklad was a founding member of CPNP and nationally recognized as an innovator of pharmaceutical care to children and adults with serious mental disorders, developmental disabilities and mental retardation.

Endorsement of Medical Home Model of Care

Leadership for Medication Management (LMM - formerly the Pharmacist Provider Coalition) is a coalition of pharmacy organizations that continue to work together to secure direct pharmacist reimbursement for cognitive and clinical services. Representatives from LMM have been in discussion with an organization called PCPCC (Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative, www.PCPCC.net) to assure the inclusion of pharmacist clinical services in the medical home model of care.

College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists Membership Committee Announces "How to Increase Student Involvement in CPNP" Essay Contest Winners

The Membership Committee of CPNP is pleased to announce the winners of the “How to Increase Student Involvement in CPNP” essay contest, Theresa Gerst and Melissa Lewis.

Theresa is a resident at the University of North Carolina Health Care System and Melissa is at The University of Texas at Austin. Both residents provided the committee with ideas on how to create opportunities for students, including mentoring opportunities, a student section of the website and listserve, and development of research interests for students.

CPNP Announces its Endorsement of the Sound Medication Therapy Management Programs

CPNP is pleased to announce its endorsement of the Sound Medication Therapy Management Programs, version 2.0 facilitated through the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. The purpose of this document is to help guide designers of MTM programs to identify the critical elements that support an effective, sound MTM program and allow these programs to be constructive in encouraging positive patient outcomes.

2009 Saklad Award Winner Announced

CPNP is pleased to announce that the 2009 recipient of the Judith J. Saklad Memorial Lecture Award is Stanley S. Weber, PharmD, FASHP, BCPP, Associate Dean for Professional Education, University of Washington, School of Pharmacy, Seattle, Washington. The Judith Saklad Lecture Award celebrates the life and work of the late Judith J. Saklad and is presented annually to a senior psychiatric pharmacy practitioner who has achieved a level of professional distinction and demonstrates a continuing dedication to the practice of psychiatric pharmacy.

College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists Announces Election of 2009-2011 Officers

The College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) membership has elected three new officers to serve on the 2009-2011 Board of Directors. Assuming their offices effective July 1, 2009 will be Dr. Steve Stoner, Dr. Mary Borovicka and Dr. Jerry Overman. See the linked press release for more information on each new board member.
