Utilizing a Relational Database to Correlate Medications and Patient Falls

Complications experienced by hospitalized patients as a result of falls can contribute to extended hospitalization, longer recuperation time, additional co-morbidities, and even death. Decreasing falls during hospitalization is an important goal for all healthcare facilities. With 754 licensed beds, CoxHealth System has a Falls Committee comprised of nurses, occupational and physical therapists, pharmacists, and hospital administrators. The committee evaluates falls that occur within the facility to discover trends, examine areas of concern, and develop fall-prevention programs. Pharmacists on the committee evaluate medication profiles of patients involved in fall incidents for medications that may have contributed to the fall.

Neurology Academic Advisory Committee: A strategy for faculty retention and advancement

Major effort and expense are devoted to faculty recruitment. Subsequent direction, support, and guidance of faculty members for retention and academic advancement are often inconsistent and ineffective.
