The pharmacy community submitted a joint letter to senate and house leaders and bill sponsors requesting inclusion of language from the Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act in any forthcoming COVID-19 legislation. The letter emphasizes pharmacists as important access points for Medicare patients, especially during this state of emergency. The letter also states the importance of increasing access to needed care and reducing the strain on our healthcare system by letting pharmacists care for our nation’s Medicare beneficiaries.

Several members of the pharmacy community are supporting a member call to action echoing the language of our joint letter. ASHP is offering a letter and their grassroots platform for member convenience in outreaching to policymakers.

The Senate is negotiating now and likely to vote by Sunday while the House is expected to vote by Tuesday. Outreach to the hill is recommended in the next 24 hours.
