Program Philosophy

This program is designed to transition the PGY1 resident graduates from general practice to specialty practice focusing on the care of patients with psychiatric disorders. This residency position expands learning experiences beyond traditional acute inpatient and outpatient psychiatry clinics, and substance abuse, to include practice in the Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) clinic.

Site Special Features

The Miami VAMC, is an adult care teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Miami School of Medicine, NOVA Southeastern University, University of Florida, Mercer University, Florida A&M University, LECOM, and Palm Beach Atlantic schools of pharmacy. Pharmacy service is completely computerized and presents well-equipped, clinically oriented unit dose, IV admixture, and ambulatory care programs. Pharmacy services are decentralized with practitioners assuming critical roles in the training of pharmacy and medical students and residents.
