Program Philosophy

We prepare the resident for practice in inpatient/outpatient mental health, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder while treating the patient holistically. Upon completion, the resident will function independently as a mental health practitioner. A resident who successfully completes this residency will possess competencies that enable attainment of board certification.

Site Special Features

The primary site is at the CAPT James A Lovell Federal Health Care Center with experiences available in inpatient, outpatient, and domiciliary programs. The facility has affiliations with several colleges of pharmacy and medicine, so there is also opportunity to precept students and present formal lectures at a university. Early committment is an option for residents who complete their PGY-1 residency at the site.
