The Teaching Community is hosting a webinar on the topic of Development of A Substance Use Disorders Course for Health Professions Students: From Learning in the Classroom to Applying on the Floors. During the webinar we will be discussing an interprofessional substance use disorders course developed and implemented at Duke University Hospital for health professions students including medical, pharmacist, physician assistant, social work, and advanced bachelors of science in nursing. We will discuss what students learned in the classroom and the activities they were asked to do outside the classroom including motivational interviewing and attending a 12-step meeting. We will also discuss the findings from data collected from this course. Speaker Andrew Muzyk, PharmD, was the co-lead on this project and his team has submitted manuscripts on this project to Academic Medicine, Teaching and Learning in Medicine, and Substance Abuse.
