Target Audience

The Psychiatric Pharmacotherapy Review Course (Review Course) is designed for two primary audiences:

  1. It offers a review of current evidence-based pharmacotherapy for psychiatric and neurologic conditions for BCPP certified pharmacists seeking BCPP Recertification credit.
  2. It serves as an educational tool for other health care providers on current evidence-based pharmacotherapy for psychiatric and neurologic conditions.

NOTES

  • The Psychiatric Pharmacotherapy Review and Recertification Course may be taken up to two times, in nonconsecutive years, by BCPPs in each 7-year recertification cycle. This course is a two-year product released at the start of even years (2022, 2024...).
  • CPNP is reviewing the new Content Outline from BPS and will provide a PDF Supplement to the current Psychiatric Pharmacotherapy Review Book by June 30, 2022.

Content

Whether a certification candidate or a currently certified individual, the goal of the Review Course is to assist the practitioner in developing and maintaining contemporary knowledge and skills at the psychiatric pharmacy specialty level. The Review Course is not designed to develop more in-depth "subspecialty" knowledge. Course content is structured to provide a comprehensive review of the three psychiatric pharmacy domains specified by the Specialty Council in the current edition of the BPS Candidate's Guide. Inclusion of the Review Course as part of the recertification program is critical in ensuring the BCPP has systematically reviewed and assessed his/her core knowledge in the psychiatric specialty practice. This course is a knowledge-based educational program designed for pharmacists to acquire factual knowledge.

  • CPNP is reviewing the new Content Outline from BPS and will provide a PDF Supplement to the current Psychiatric Pharmacotherapy Review Book by June 30, 2022.

The course includes:

  • A book (additional shipping fee required) containing comprehensive outlines of the topics noted in the curriculum section below. The outlines consist of objectives, thorough subject related content, comprehensive reference listings by topic, and self-assessment questions and answers.
  • An e-book version of the book hosted by VitalSource Bookshelf, a leading e-textbook solution. This e-book version allows you to take electronic notes as well as download the book to your desktop or mobile device for off line access.
  • For pharmacists, 20.0 contact hours of ACPE credit and 20.0 hours of recertification credit achieved by successfully completing the online CPNP recertification examination. BCPP Recertification credit is earned and reported within the year the assessment is successfully completed.

Consider the BCPP Prep Series for additional study aids. The Prep Series provides recorded webinar presentations that are structured around this review course and feature case-based self-assessment questions with feedback. This course is designed for those who plan to sit for the BCPP exam but is also an excellent training tool.
