Target Audience

If you are a pharmacist, nurse practitioner or other healthcare professional involved in the comprehensive medication management of psychiatric and/or neurological patients, we invite you to participate in this online course.

Session Summary

This application-based case provides the opportunity to study shared decision-making techniques with a patient living with narcolepsy. The case follows the patient through four encounters over a period of several years, and the activity allows for self-assessment throughout the study as participants apply treatment strategies and patient recommendations. Instructional webinars with patient videos and a final examination provide extended value for participants following completion.

Course Requirements

You will proceed through the following steps to satisfactorily complete this course:

  • Review the full content of the activity and reflect upon its teachings.
  • Complete the post-test at the end of the activity no later than the closing activity date. (sign in first)

  • If necessary, complete the post-test retest no later than the closing activity date. (sign in first)
  • Receive a passing grade (70%).
  • Provide the necessary details in your profile to ensure correct reporting by CPNP to CPE Monitor. (sign in first)
Participants in this course must complete an examination and achieve a score of 70% or greater. Up to two exam attempts are provided to each participant. Successful completion of the course also requires the completion of a course evaluation. Upon successful completion, ACPE credit is reported immediately to CPE Monitor although transcripts can be retrieved by participants online at http://cpnp.org/mycpnp/transcript/acpe.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify clinical features and treatment issues as applicable to patients with narcolepsy. 
  2. Evaluate evidenced-based data regarding current and novel treatment approaches to address clinical needs of patients with narcolepsy.
  3. Apply evidence-based research findings to the clinical care of patients with narcolepsy.
  4. Tailor individualized treatment plans as a means to improve treatment outcomes for patients with narcolepsy who have at least 1 comorbidity and drug-related problems.
