The live session is complete.

Target Audience

This course is designed for pharmacists, nurse practitioners or other healthcare professionals involved in the comprehensive medication management of psychiatric and/or neurological patients.

Session Summary

Neurologic and psychiatric pharmacists are well-versed on general epilepsy treatments. However, many have little experience treating patients with refractory epilepsy. Additionally, new information is forthcoming in the mechanisms behind refractory epilepsy; therefore, more specific treatments will develop from this new knowledge. This program will describe refractory epilepsy and its pathophysiology, and outline strategies, both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic, that are used for treatment of this condition.
