Target Audience

If you are a pharmacist, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional involved in the comprehensive medication management of individuals living with mental health and/or substance use disorders, we invite you to participate in this online course.

Session Summary

Eating disorders may occur throughout a person’s lifetime, more often in young men and women. The development of an eating disorder puts the patient at an increased risk of dying significantly younger than their peers. Eating disorders range from those that are more commonly known, like anorexia nervosa to those less well known, such as diabulimia. In their treatment, it is critical to understand when and how to treat the specific eating disorder, as well as when to refer to specialty treatment. Emerging treatments may provide new avenues to providing patients with the best recovery possible. Through additional education, the psychiatric pharmacist will be able to best care for a patient with an eating disorder, allowing for improved physical and mental health.
