Target Audience

This course is designed for pharmacists, nurse practitioners or other health care professionals involved in the comprehensive medication management of psychiatric and/or neurological patients.

Session Summary

Evidence from emergency room visits indicate a rise in both illicit, and to a greater extent, pharmaceutical stimulant use. With no FDA approved treatments for stimulant use disorders, pharmacists may not be familiar with possible off-label medications for stimulant use disorder. With this knowledge, pharmacists can play an important role in educating patients about the risks of stimulant use disorder, identifying patients at increased risk for stimulant disorder, screening for stimulant abuse and recommending pharmacologic treatment options to treat stimulant use disorder.
