AAPP is proud to represent psychiatric pharmacists, psychiatric pharmacy residents, and pharmacy students of diverse races, ethnicities, religions, genders, and sexual orientations. AAPP understands how the environment in the host state of Florida may be concerning to conference registrants and members and, as such, AAPP is sharing our guiding principles and the actions we are taking to prioritize the attendee experience and attendee wellbeing at the Omni Orlando in Kissimmee Florida.

Wellbeing-Themed Activities

  • Creativity Room (Royal Melbourne): The AAPP Foundation is proud to sponsor the Creativity Room! Take a “brain break” and have some fun making friendship bracelets and keychains throughout the week as well as signs for the Mental Health Unity Walk. In-person attendees who make a $25+ donation to the AAPP Foundation during the AAPP Annual Meeting will get an exclusive set of mental health pharmacy beads and charms to use in their bracelets and keychains, while supplies last!
  • Quiet/Reflection Room (Olympic B): A dedicated quiet space is available for attendee use during AAPP 2024 to pause, reflect, work, breathe, etc. Please respect the space and keep it quiet for everyone.
  • Mental Health Unity Walk (meet by the fountain outside the lobby): Join the AAPP Foundation on Wednesday, April 10 for a ¼ mile unity walk starting at 6:30 AM. Bring your favorite mental health-themed t-shirt and the sign you made earlier in the week in the Creativity Room to carry during the walk. Let's stand together for mental health.

Our Guiding Principles

  1. AAPP events bring us together as a community and are an important element of membership in our association.
  2. AAPP events are an important way for us to live our mission to advance the practice of psychiatric pharmacy and pharmacists, regardless of the physical location of the event.
  3. Our events are important in supporting the members in the host state who are working to advance the practice of psychiatric pharmacy and provide the best in patient care, regardless of the political environment.
  4. It is our responsibility to be present on behalf of our colleagues, friends, and patients who are impacted by unfavorable legislation.
  5. The AAPP Board has a fiduciary responsibility to ensure the continued financial viability and success of AAPP as we strive to fulfill the AAPP mission, short-term and long-term.

Attendee Wellbeing

As event host, AAPP has a duty of care to work to ensure that all individuals at our events are safe from a myriad of possibilities including discrimination, violence, natural disasters, communicable diseases like COVID, etc.

With our contractual obligations in Florida and the impossibility of an alternate location, our focus is on the experience, safety, and wellbeing of our attendees. Though we can’t control everything, including the state of Florida at large, we are working to set expectations in our controlled environments, starting with our AAPP event Code of Conduct that all attendees are expected to abide by.

A few facts about our event at the Omni Orlando:

  1. Omni Orlando is a secluded, private resort outside the hustle and bustle of Orlando but within a drivable distance to the major attractions Orlando has to offer.
  2. AAPP will be the dominant group on-site largely occupying one of two conference centers and over 50% of available lodging.
  3. Gender neutral bathrooms are accessible in AAPP's dedicated meeting space.
  4. Waived resort fees for AAPP attendees means full access to all on-site activities such as 8 on-property restaurants, putt putt golf, recreation facilities, and pools galore. With all of these amenities, you can enjoy the full resort experience and not venture off the resort unless you wish to.
  5. Omni Orlando boasts a diverse staff committed to an inclusive and safe environment.
